What people are talking about...

Say thank you.

Often the simple act of showing gratitude can set you apart from your competition. The key is to be genuine and spread the word.

Military discounts are becoming more and more prevalent. They are a terrific way to show your appreciation to those who serve and protect our freedoms. Resorts are offering special rates, several dry cleaners advertise uniforms are dry cleaned free, Walgreens extends special military rates on Tuesdays.

Airlines, retail stores and even service based companies are all developing creative ways to say thank you to military personnel and their families. Do you have a service or product that you might offer at a discount? It is perfectly acceptable to request that a military I-D is shown.

A Lesson from Leonardo.

When Leonardo Da Vinci was working on The Last Supper, he would spend days painting from dawn until dusk; then without warning, he would take a break for a day or two. The duke who contracted his services was not amused, perferring that Leonardo would "never lay down his brush." But Leonardo persauded him that "the greatest geniuses sometimes accomplish more when they work less.

Recent statistics showed that the average businessperson now experiences 170 interactions per day (phone calls,e-face conversations) and has a backlog of 200 to 300 hours of uncompleted work. But sometimes the best thing to do with 10 minutes is to take a walk or water your plants.

Thanks to Dan Miller of 48Days for sharing Leonardo's lesson.
